Lawmaker Revives Push to Sanction ICC Over Israel Arrest Warrants
Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, reintroduced a bill Jan. 3 that would sanction International Criminal Court (ICC) officials for issuing arrest warrants for Israeli officials over the war in Gaza (see 2405090034).

The Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act has been placed on a fast track in the House in the new 119th Congress. It is among 12 “priority pieces of legislation” that will be considered on the House floor “in the coming weeks," the office of House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., said.
The House passed a similar ICC bill in June (see 2406050037), but the measure stalled in the Senate amid opposition from the Biden administration. However, new Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., has pledged to hold a vote on such legislation this year (see 2411180020).
The ICC issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant in November (see 2411210039).
