House Members Renew Georgia Sanctions Bill
A bipartisan group of four House members reintroduced a bill Jan. 3 to sanction officials who undermine democracy in the Republic of Georgia.

Reps. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., Steve Cohen, D-Tenn., Richard Hudson, R-N.C., and Marc Veasey, D-Texas, put forth the Mobilizing and Enhancing Georgia’s Options for Building Accountability, Resilience, and Independence (MEGOBARI) Act. A Wilson press release says the bill has been "fully negotiated" by Democratic and Republican leaders in the House and Senate and is "expected to move quickly" through Congress.
The legislation cleared the House Foreign Affairs Committee last year but didn't advance further (see 2407100058).
